Our Robotics Ecosystem: The Backbone of Automation

March 21, 2025

At Idealworks, we are more than a deep-tech company -- we are architects of a robotics ecosystem that drives industrial automation. Anchored by our intelligent automation platform, AnyFleet, this ecosystem extends beyond a single solution, integrating cutting-edge software, hardware, tools, and strategic partnerships to create a seamless and scalable automation framework.

Reflections from LogiMAT 2025

This year's LogiMAT showcased the accelerating shift towards intelligent automation, and our presence underscored the power of an interconnected robotics ecosystem. The conversations we had reinforced a key takeaway: "businesses across industries are actively seeking scalable, vendor-agnostic automation solutions that enhance operational flexibility and efficiency." Our approach to automation, centered around interoperability and strategic collaboration, resonated strongly with attendees, customers, and industry leaders alike.

Automate Your Everyday

Every industry has unique challenges, but automation should never be a limiting factor. That's why our robotics ecosystem is designed to be industry-agnostic, enabling businesses across automotive, manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing to automate their everyday operations -- whatever they may be. With AnyFleet at its core, we simplify workflows, enhance efficiency, and remove bottlenecks, making day-to-day business operations smoother and smarter.

A Robotics Ecosystem Approach

Our robotics ecosystem goes beyond hardware and fleet management; it provides a holistic approach to automation. Based on VDA 5050, AnyFleet serves as the foundation, connecting both autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) from various manufacturers, manual vehicles, IoT devices, warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. It seamlessly integrates with our broader portfolio, which includes the AMR iw.hub, the simulation tool iw.sim, and the robotics operating system iw.os.

However, the strength of our ecosystem lies in its collaborative network -- encompassing simulation technology, robotics partners, sales and service networks, development collaborations, strategic shareholders, and university research partnerships -- all with the customer at the very center.

Real-World Success Stories

The power of our robotics ecosystem is reflected in its widespread adoption across multiple industries:

Manufacturing Excellence

Manufacturing environments demand precision and adaptability, and our robotics ecosystem delivers both. Companies such as AGCO Fendt, BHS Corrugated, CLAAS, and Miele leverage our robotics solutions and AnyFleet's integration capabilities to enhance workflow automation, coordinate robotic fleets, and streamline production processes.

As a global leader in agricultural machinery, CLAAS relies on continuous innovation in intralogistics as a key success factor. By integrating Idealworks' robotics ecosystem into its supply chain strategy, CLAAS implemented a long-term, flexible, and scalable automation solution. A fleet of 30 iw.hubs now carries out around 800 transport missions per shift in mixed-traffic environments, centrally orchestrated by AnyFleet. This deployment underscores CLAAS' commitment to leveraging advanced automation technologies for enhanced efficiency and scalability.

Logistics & Warehousing Optimization

Efficiency is the key to success in logistics and warehousing, and our robotics ecosystem provides the necessary tools to excel. Companies like Geis Group, Noerpel Group, BLG Logistics, Syncreon, and Zalando SE benefit from AnyFleet's ability to unify mobile robots, enable intelligent task allocation, and provide real-time operational insights.

For example, Noerpel -- a leading logistics service provider -- faced challenges such as increasing warehouse capacities and workforce shortages. By integrating AnyFleet with a fleet of AGVs from Melkus Mechatronic, Noerpel significantly enhanced operational efficiency. Seamless integration with their existing WMS allows for independent zone control adjustments, ensuring flexibility and adaptability. This collaboration resulted in faster material transport, improved resource utilization, and increased employee motivation -- transforming AGVs into valuable teammates within Noerpel's logistics operations.

Intelligent Material Handling in Automotive

The AMR iw.hub plays a crucial role in BMW Group's automated logistics operations, with more than 600 iw.hubs deployed across multiple plants. These intelligent robots handle around 48,000 transport missions per day, ensuring precise, reliable, and scalable material transport in highly complex production environments. By seamlessly integrating into existing workflows, the iw.hub enhances efficiency, flexibility, and safety -- key factors in BMW Group's smart manufacturing strategy.

With our roots in the BMW Group, Idealworks has a deep understanding of the automotive sector. Our robotics ecosystem extends beyond BMW Group, supporting leading companies such as DRAXLMAIER Group, MoldTecs, Shape Corp., Purem by Eberspacher, and Toyota North America in optimizing production logistics, managing material flow, and increasing operational efficiency.

The Future of Autonomous Logistics

As automation continues to transform industries, Idealworks remains committed to advancing the robotics ecosystem. By fostering collaboration between simulation technology, robotics manufacturers, strategic partners, and research institutions, we empower businesses to stay ahead in an evolving landscape. Our growing customer base reflects the trust placed in our approach -- one that prioritizes interoperability, adaptability, and long-term success.

With AnyFleet at its core, our robotics ecosystem is not just about managing robots: It's about creating a fully connected, intelligent, and scalable automation network.
